Kung-Fu Black tiger bench Zhǎngqiáo dèng 長橋櫈 Héng tóu dèng 横头凳

"Style Black Tiger bench,  Zhǎngqiáo dèng 長橋櫈 Héng tóu dèng 横头凳

A Wooden Bench  is a Weapon mainly used in Southern Chinese  Kung Fu Styles. Like Choy Lee Fut, Hung Kuen, Jow Gar,Siu Lim Hark Fu Mun.

In the past you could have found a Wooden Bench  in nearly every restaurant in China or in households who couldnt afford chairs that are more exaümsive. So its plausible to be able to use it as weapong.

Wooden Bench could vary in weight from 15-20 pounds so by training with the  Wooden Bench you could also gain some power. Generally it is considered a long range weapon and it nakes heavy use of Double handed Pole Techniques. But it has also short range techniques which could be aplied.

Very common techniques are poking or spearing(cheung) techniques, which are applied with the side end of the Wooden Bench  . Or uppercuts"Jong" with the legs of the Bench or even Hammer techniques by crashing down the weapon on the oppenent.

In Cantonese this weapon is called "Cheung Kiu Dang" or 長橋櫈

There should also be a few people from and around Northern Shaolin Temple who know "Wooden Bench  . This comes from Héng tóu dèng 横头凳. then as he was taught a Wooden Bench Form. But I think he had this because he lived for a long time at Emei Shan( Sichuan Province, Southern China). Federation International  kung fu Shaolin and Wudang
